IASTE UK will support you before, during, and after your internship in the UK!
Local Support
IAESTE UK will support you in every step of your paid internship in the UK, including departure preparation, necessary paperwork, a 24/7 helpline during your internship, and ongoing support whenever you need it. Our team is experienced in international mobility and is qualified to guide you through your internship in the UK so you can make the most of it!
Visa
For your internship in the UK, you will need a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and a Temporary Worker Government Authorised Exchange (TWGAE) visa. IAESTE UK will support you with all the documents. We work with immigration lawyers for your CoS and once this has been approved, help you with the visa application. The CoS is paid for, on your behalf. You will need to pay for the visa fee when you submit your application.
If you are from a non-EU country, you might have to visit a visa application centre (VAC) to do your biometrics. You might have to pay for your VAC appointment. Otherwise, the visa process is the same.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be arranged for you in advance, and the details will be shared with you before you arrive. You will receive a Welcome Pack with essential information, including accommodation details, local activity recommendations, commuting tips, health advice, and other useful guidance to help you settle for your internship in the UK.
IAESTE UK will source you a furnished private room in a house shared with mixed gender, young professionals, that is within a reasonable commute of the workplace. We will ensure that your rent and bills (gas, electric, water, Wi-Fi) are paid for each month along with all upfront costs, including agency fees and deposits, along with any documents that need signing.
Refundable Deposit
Within 48 hours of signing your acceptance note, you’ll be asked to pay £200 refundable deposit confirming your commitment to your placement. After successfully completing your internship in the UK and leaving the accommodation clean and tidy, we will return the deposit within 2 working days of the landlord returning the deposit to IAESTE.
In case of any damages or cleaning costs to the accommodation, the deposit will be deducted or not refunded at all.
Insurance
For any IAESTE internship you must have a personal liability insurance for the whole length of your internship. Personal liability insurance should also cover any accidents or personal belongings. Building insurance will be covered by the landlord/homeowner.
If your internship in the UK lasts more than 6 months, you’ll need to pay £1,035 Immigration Health Surcharge when applying for your visa. This cost is covered by the IAESTE programme and will be refunded to you in full!
